Is the brain like a computer? Or is it like a muscle? Different analogies of the brain are often used to help us understand how best to develop our personal wellbeing.

In this session, we will be looking at how the brain is unlike computers and muscles. By having a more accurate understanding as to how the brain works, we can more accurately understand key challenges to mental wellbeing, as well as how to overcome those challenges. Of course, the brain is a big thing - so in this short session, we will be focusing on how neurons work. Still, this will help us understand challenges including:

  • How do habits form and why is it so hard to break bad ones?
  • What is tiredness and how best do we recover?
  • Is change possible, and how best do we change?
